Covering more Italian commanders (ones, perhaps, with less German-sounding names) also could made the book richer and more meaningful to students of the theater; this is a neglected topic. Lynch develops his characters well and I became involved in all of their stories, rooting for several of them at the same time. The Antarctic brings out the best and the worst in people.. I would think that if a publisher is going to give a book away, to create interest in an author that has a fairly large catalog, they would choose a very good to great one.
