The author who revealed the myths behind J.K. Rowling's creatures now tackles literature's most beloved epic fantasy, by bringing to light the legends that influenced J.R.R. Tolkien-and answering pertinent questions ranging from "Why do Hobbits live in holes?" to "When in the world is Middle-earth?"
This book was not authorized, prepared, approved, licensed, or endorsed by the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros., or any other individual or entity associated with The Lord of the Rings book or movie.
Just like the Honor series, the author makes it way too easy to get hooked into the characters who are very interesting. Her interest is in making enough money to finally buy a ranch in Montana and then getting out without any entangling relationships. Straussner’s book captures the most recent developments in the rapidly changing field of addictions, including the implications of the new DSM, evolving evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, and the neurobiology of addictions. It does present a fair amount of information that is useful, its just a little hard to extract.. In the original book these were done on glossy pages with black backgrounds and each individual popped beautifully on the page. I have never seen such graphic pictures of injuries, but they were honest and real. Some large, some small, changing from paragraph to paragraph. I am grateful that he wrote this book and pleased that I read it (again and again).. Warren
