This is a beautifully-written memoir about humanity, personal aging, caring for an aging parent, life's struggles and challenges, and the spectrum of emotions that come with those challenges.

Christina Wald's illustrations of the autumn forest and its residents are wonderful. Some aliens in a glass-domed flying saucer observe a fireworks display, get stuck in a tree, and watch as one of the rockets comes to life and starts menacing people. I have no idea what the Y axis represents. The timetable of the story is carefully noted; it takes places a few months after the events in The Excalibur Murders, re-introducing characters who played minor parts in that story but now holding more major ones.
